Ruin

Ruin is a series of suspended textile installations created for the group show On the Surface of Things, curated by Isobel Parker Phillip.

Referencing the architectural drawings and design motifs of Henri Labrouste, the pieces of digitally printed silk, hand-dyed rayon and organza are layered, cut-out, dissected and stitched to resemble a slowly decaying man-made structure. Ruin examines the quiet dialogue between permanence and transience, rigidity and fragility.
